Where it all began…
Artificial grass is a fake grass matting made of synthetic fibres made to resemble natural grass. It is produced solely from synthetic materials. Monsanto Industries made the first fake grass in the 1960’s.
And it really has come a long way since then, being used for residential lawns, businesses and many other places. It is no longer the rough, hard surface it once was. And it is now difficult to tell the difference between a good artificial grass and the real thing both for how it looks and feels.
What does it look like?
With artificial grass you get what you pay for. The low quality products look unnatural in colour and wear out quickly, which is not what you want for a garden lawn!
The higher quality types have a layer of fine sand brushed into the pile, which makes the individual strands stand upright. The grasses also contain a thatch (mixture of different colour grasses), which makes them incredibly similar to a natural lawn.
